Roger ‘Kirk’ Kirkpatrick is a retired Marine Corps officer, as well as recent LM retiree. He served in the Marine Corps Infantry until 1997 when he joined Lockheed Martin. During that time he served in 2/4, 2/9, 2/5, MCRD San Diego, 4th MCD, 12th MCD, I MEF HQ, and the Marine Corps University. He participated in operations in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Somalia, served as the Director of Special Programs and Deputy Director of the UNC/CFC/USFK/EUSA Command Center in Seoul, Korea, was a faculty member of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the Marine Corps War College. At LM he served as a Sys Eng/OA, PM, and Senior Business Manager. He was involved in the development of electromagnetic weapons systems, advanced tactical missile payloads, development of non-lethal weapons, Navy land attack missiles for both surface and subsurface platforms, advanced tactical vehicles development and advanced survivability suites for land and amphibious tactical vehicles, as well as the operational analysis of advanced operational concepts for the Army and Marine Corps. He is a graduate of the University of San Diego, the Armed Forces Staff College, and the Navy War College. He is a member of the LM Management Association, the NDIA, Navy League, Marine Corps Association, US Naval Institute, the American Legion, and various charitable organizations. He enjoys politics, historical research, skeet, hunting, fishing, golf, baseball, and camping.
