Topic: Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification

The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)) recognizes that security is foundational to acquisition and should not be traded along with cost, schedule, and performance moving forward. The Department is committed to working with the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) sector to enhance the protection of controlled unclassified information (CUI) within the supply chain. OUSD(A&S) is working with DoD stakeholders, University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs), Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC), and industry to develop the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). Steve Roemerman wins National Award for Small Business Excellence

One of our very own from North Texas just won the Kathleen P. Sridhar Small Business Executive of the Year Award!! This is a very big deal and continues to highlight the strength of the industry in our region and our great Corporate Members, especially Steve Roemerman and the folks at Lone Star Analysis.

Although the similarity in name is just a coincidence, Lone Star Analysis has been a great partner for the Lone Star Chapter of NDIA. They’ve hosted several of our meetings and Steve participated in a panel in 2018.

October 10: “Implementing the Strategy” Hosted by NDIA in DFW

Summary:

Written in 2018, the National Defense Strategy lists several challenges we are facing coming from “strategic atrophy” and an eroding “competitive military advantage.” The strategy is calling for “A more lethal, resilient, and rapidly innovating Joint Force,” to meet these needs. It’s imperative that we face these challenges head-on in order to “Implement the Strategy.” The strategy calls for “creative approaches…sustained investment…execution…that can compete, deter, and win, in this increasingly complex security environment.”

The goal of this event is to discuss what this means to those of us in the industry that want to meet this challenge and continue to make this the greatest nation on earth.
