May 2026 NDIA Lone Star Chapter Meeting

The NDIA Lone Star Chapter is pleased to announce an upcoming evening chapter meeting hosted by Lone Star Analysis.

  • The room is the Lone Star Analysis Training Room and is located right by the entrance. There is a Lone Star sign directly over the entrance. Parking is open and available directly in front of the building. all visitors will be required to sign in at the front desk.

Speaker:  Steve Roemerman

Topic: How CRs and Shutdowns Are Straining the Defense Industrial Base

Our featured speaker will be Steve Roemerman. Steve is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Lone Star Analysis and has served in this role since 2004. Previous CEO roles have included Incucomm® Inc., a business incubator which launched several companies, and Crosspan Technologies, a subsidiary of Raytheon. He has served as an officer or director in more than a dozen other corporations in technology, aerospace, finance, nonprofits, and transportation.

May’s NDIA presentation by Steve Roemerman, CEO of Lone Star Analysis, will explore the ongoing effects of continuing resolutions and government shutdowns on the Defense Industrial Base (DIB). Lone Star’s research shows the impact is felt more in some parts of the DIB. His remarks will frame the challenges created by funding instability and highlight how these issues impact the industry, the workforce, and long‑term defense readiness.

Speaker Highlight: The Hon. David L. Norquist is President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA).

The NDIA Lone Star is honored to welcome The Hon. David L. Norquist.

The Hon. David L. Norquist is President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). He joined NDIA on May 1, 2022 bringing with him more than 30 years of public and private sector experience in national security and federal financial management.

 

Mr. Norquist previously served as the 34th Deputy Secretary of Defense from 2019 to 2021 and was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Department of Defense (DoD), including managing the Pentagon’s budget and personnel. He led reforms in DoD business processes and realigned investments toward the challenges of multi-domain warfare. At the request of the Biden Administration, Mr. Norquist served as Acting Secretary of Defense and continued as Deputy Secretary until the Senate confirmed Secretary Lloyd Austin and Deputy Secretary Kathleen Hicks.

Speaker Highlight: Dr. Lee K. Levy II, Chairman & CEO of The Levy Group and former Commanding General of the Air Force Sustainment Command.

Our featured speaker will be Dr. Lee Levy. In addition to his role with The Levy Group, LLC, he serves as Senior Defense Advisor at American Global Strategies and Vice Chairman of Palladyne Defense, bringing highly sought-after expertise in global geopolitical risks and opportunities, global security policy, global supply chains, Air/Space/Cyber/Autonomous capabilities, including strategic analysis, risk, and crisis management as well as organizational and leadership development. Lee, a nationally certified Corporate Director, serves as an independent director on several for-profit boards of directors (publicly traded, multi-national, as well as privately held) and not-for-profit corporate boards, including appointments to Audit and Compensation Committees. Further, he serves as a strategic partner to several firms in the private equity and investment banking sectors.

He also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) and is the Chairman Emeritus of its Logistics Management Division. He has been awarded the CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight from Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Enterprise Institute. Finally, Lee holds a Doctorate in
Organizational Change and Leadership from Vanderbilt University and serves as a Distinguished Research Professor of National Security and Economic Strategies at the University of North Texas,

In this timely session, Dr. Levy will explore how the evolving National Security Strategy is reshaping the Defense Industrial Base — from supply chain resilience and production capacity to workforce readiness and strategic competition.

This is a must-attend discussion for defense leaders, industry partners, and professionals committed to strengthening America’s industrial and national security posture.

Speaker Highlight: Ben Hayes, Aviation & Aerospace Division Leader at Haskell

Our featured speaker will be Ben Hayes, Division Market Lead for Haskell’s Aviation & Aerospace Division. Ben is a self-motivated and goal-oriented leader in charge of project pursuits for Haskell’s Aviation & Aerospace Manufacturing Division. As the Division Leader, he is instrumental in driving new business and identifying the right opportunities in order to build long-term relationships with the right prospects. Ben joined the company 5 years ago after a successful Eleven-year career in the Navy as a P-8A Poseidon Weapons and Tactics Instructor Pilot. During that time, he led large teams and was key in the implementation and integration of the P-8A into the operational picture. He has vast experience of working with defense contract companies in the creation and implementation of new systems and components for military aircraft.

At Haskell, Ben is responsible for identifying and overseeing new market initiatives, developing strategic pursuit plans, maintaining current client relationships, and identifying areas for potential new client markets. He manages the proposal pursuit strategy through to project win and attends conferences, meetings and industry events. In addition, he collaborates with the in-house design and engineering teams to ensure that projects are on schedule, they meet the clients’ needs and information is being communicated effectively.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Military Operational Oceanography from the United States Naval Academy and is still active in the US Navy Reserves as an Instructor Pilot.

Virtual Guest Speaker: Ms. Ashley M. Farrier
Ms. Ashley Farrier currently serves as the Director of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP). As Director, Ms. Farrier assists the USSOCOM acquisition workforce with advancing small business participation in Special Operations Forces (SOF) unique procurements.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Farrier served as the Division Chief for the Headquarters and Services Support Contracting Division within Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (SOF AT&L). During this time, she was responsible for overseeing the execution of the Command’s multibillion-dollar professional services portfolio.
Ms. Farrier has a strong background in Federal contracting having worked in contracting for 13 years both at USSOCOM and with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. During her contracting tenure, she held multiple warrants and began her advocacy for partnering with Small Businesses.
She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Tampa, and her MBA from Saint Leo University.
