Summary:

The recent pandemic has indicated an unanticipated fragility in our nation’s manufacturing supply chain. An aggressive push towards reshoring American manufacturing requires efforts across a spectrum of policy, laws, universities, trades and infrastructure enabling expansion, leadership and speed for our nation’s defense industrial base of small and medium sized manufacturers.

In this first-of-its-kind event, we are bringing together key stakeholders across all levels of government. Join us as we view the entire manufacturing ecosystem from multiple perspectives and explore actionable ideas with the goal to remake America’s manufacturing base into a hyper-connected, secure, and resilient ecosystem of domestic suppliers who can more easily connect and interact.

NDIA champions, builds and convenes the forums that tackle the industry’s most challenging issues. The Lone Star Chapter has been right in the middle of having the most relevant speakers of our time.

Abstract:

The Health and Readiness of the Defense Industrial Base
Please join us as Wes Hallman discusses the newly released Vital Signs report and provides key legislative and regulatory updates. Vital Signs is a comprehensive assessment of the defense industrial base (DIB) and contributes to the debate about national defense acquisition strategy by offering a common set of indicators — vital signs — of what some have called America’s “sixth service”: the industrial partners who equip our warfighters with their capability advantages.
The report features a collaborative study between NDIA Strategy & Policy and NDIA Emerging Technologies Institute (ETI) with key elements covering Covid-19, Competition, Emerging Technologies, Industrial Security, Workforce, and Survey Results. Since the report is annual, it serves as an important reference when viewing trends within the DIB and can be used by policymakers, industry professionals, and students alike.

December 8 Major Event: Emerging Technologies Sponsored by Lockheed Martin!

*** Zoom and in-person options available for attendance. Ticket Details below ***

*** 2 Panels and a Keynote for 1 Ticket***

Summary:

It’s become clear that the United States Military must modernize to meet the challenges of the Emerging Threats associated with 21st Century Warfare.  This includes developing technologies such as Hypersonics, Quantum Systems, AI and Autonomy,  5G, directed energy, edge and distributed computing, biotechnology, advanced networking, and other advanced areas.  To accomplish this we’ll need whole of industry cultural shift, enabling more contributors to take part in innovation, finding more funding methods, and non-traditional contractual relationships, working with allies (we aren’t the lead in all the core technologies needed to the level we’ve been in the past), enabling a powerhouse US supply chain that retains its IP, and ensuring we understand the mission needs of the warfighter on a more complex level than before.  This task is very achievable with the right focus.  That’s why we at the NDIA Lone Star Chapter Proudly host this event on Emerging Technologies, to fully discuss the speed bumps we need to overcome and meet the challenges ahead!

NDIA champions, builds and convenes the forums that tackle the industry’s most challenging issues. The Lone Star Chapter has been right in the middle of having the most relevant speakers of our time.
