The rate of technology and business-model innovation today makes it nearly impossible for any single organization to do everything itself. Most central to IBM’s blockchain strategy is convening an ecosystem of partners and capabilities that allow us to accelerate the transformation of our clients. NavalX Overview: Why the Status Quo is Not Enough.
Mr. Bradley Goodrich will be offering an overview of NavalX, an Innovation Cell for the US Navy. One of NavalX’s roles is to deliver and facilitate the rapid adoption of proven agility-enhancing methods that are ready for implementation, have high impact and broad applicability, and are likely to scale. Our Naval culture of decentralized autonomy has been described as an innovation landscape marked by isolated and short-lived bursts of success. The approach is to connect to these isolated pockets of excellence to capture and scale the methodologies being employed, increasing awareness of cross-Department of Defense (DoD) and external successes, lessons learned, and subject matter experts. NavalX connects experts and solutions to workforce challenges.

The Quest for a Defense Innovation Ecosystem in Texas
The National Security Innovation Council of Texas is a public-private consortium whose sole purpose is to strengthen the defense of the nation by focusing on solving difficult national security problems at rapid speed. Additionally, NSIC takes an honest broker, “whole-of-state” approach to bringing more national security investment and research dollars into the State of Texas. This is about creating speed in problem solving, increasing the level of government support to innovation, and allowing Texas-based companies and institutions access to more opportunities collectively than they could individually. NSIC is taking an ambitious and holistic approach in creating an operational model that sustains shared understanding of national security problems, constantly renews awareness of Texas-based entities who can solve those problems, and effectively guides activities to connect the two and enable solutions.
